As a medical assistant, you have worked with patients with infectious diseases the entire day. Why is it important that you cover your work clothes prior to picking up your child at day care? Why should you change your clothes as soon as you arrive home?

Answer: Infectious diseases are communicable diseases which can transfer from one person to other with or without medium. It can spread by coming in contact with the infected person or fluid etc.

So, it is important to wash hands, change clothes etc. because infection can spread by coming in contact with any of the materials. Children and infants are more prone to developing infections. So, precautions should be take everytime whenever touching children. Working with patient who has infectious disease may cause any of the fluid or germs may get attached on the clothes, so from prevention of the disease the clothes should be changes as soon as on the arrival at home.
