Maximum number of sweaters purchased = 300/25 = 12

Maximum number of jeans to be purchased = 300/75 = 4

The budget constraint is shown as follows:

MU of sweater per dollar = 2/25 = .08

MU of jeans per dollar = 3/75 = .04

Since MU of sweater per dollar is not equal to the MU of jeans per dollar, then buying equal quantity of jeans as well as sweaters will not maximize the total utility. Hence, buying 3 units of jeans and 3 units of sweaters is not an optimal choice.

Since MU per unit is fixed and MU of sweater per dollar is higher than the MU of jeans per dollar, then consumer should buy more sweaters and no jeans to maximize the total utility.
