Antepartum refers to the time period that falls before child birth. Antepartum care involves in the comprehensive care rendered by the health care professionals in order to monitor the healthy development of the fetus and to prevent complications related to pregnancy. The care includes screening for STD, screening for genetic disorders, promoting healthy habits like excessing,keep a track on healthy weight, nutritional counseling.

The CPT code for 7 or more complete antepartum visit is 59426. Incase of increased services with modifier 22.

The two services that includes in antepartum care are: recording of weight, abdominal examination to detect gestational age, weight measurements, monitoring vitals, monitoring fetal heart sounds, urinalysis.
