Determine the subscript in KClOx - (Reaction at the bottom of the question)

1 Determine masses of sample, oxygen and potassium chloride. Use molar mass to calculate the moles

2a The ratio of moles is simply the value calculated by dividing the two moles values. This value rounded to the correct number of sig. figures, is what should be recorded ( include units)

2b Coefficients c and b come from rounding your ratio of moles to a whole number ratio.

2c Once c and b are determined write out the balanced equation to determine a and then finally x. ( Make sure the value makes sense)

4 Use experimental masses to determine experimental percent Oxygen in the compound ( sample) & use molar masses to determine the theoretical % Oxygen in the compound, using your value for "x" in the compound formula.

Mass of test tube+MnO2= 16.2135g

Mass of test tube+ MnO2+ sample (being KClOx) = 17.3119g

Mass of test tube +residue after reaction is complete (being MnO2+KCl) = 16.7846g

-Mass of sample, mass of oxygen, mass of KCl, moles of O2, moles of KCl ? (show all work)

-ratio moles O2 /moles KCl (show all work) Please explain this step in detail.

Reaction: a KClOx(s) [MnO2 utilized as catalyst] ---> b Kcl (s) + c O2 (g)
