Computer technology use in dentistry:

With the advancement of digital technology, the area of dentistry is also affected by it and that is in a good way. Today, from creating an appointment for a patient to diagnosis and treatment of the patient’s condition, all are done by computerized technology. Though the first use of the computer in a dent., office was started from helping in bookkeeping and accounting, the computer has spread its wings on all over the field of dentistry since then.

Today computers are being used for various purposes, from diagnosis and treatment of patients to administrative functions and many others.

• Computers can store medical data, thus avoiding any chance of manual errors in diagnosis and treatment

• Computers help to facilitate communications between dentists, so there is always a room to take a second opinion from an expert, instantly.

• Digital technology can do administrative works as well, such as creating appointments, creating insurance claims, generating recall notices etc

• Digital technology is used to display services and Instruments, offered by a dentist, to the potential patients. So, it plays a role in advertising as well.
