She also mentions that she has had a mastectomy on the left side. The doctor has ordered a CBC, STAT glucose, and a urinalysis. What complications might Charles expect? How should Charles go about selecting the blood collection site?

Mastectomy : removal of breast tissue.

Because of some breast cancer there is a need of mastectomy, so patient might be on chemotherapy drugs.

Chemotherapy may cause side-effects like nausea and vomiting, so here patient is having severe nausea and vomiting because of that she is not unable to eat and drink.

If the continuous symptoms may leads to hypotension, hypoglycemia and coma, death may happens.

The Charles expect complications like leukocytosis, because if there is any infections due to surgery there will be a increased wbc count.

After mastectomy post operative complications in urinary system arises like urinary retention and it may leads to urinary tract infections, because some of the sexual hormones imbalances leads to these problems may arises.

So when the urinary retention may leads to infection may causes to elevated pus cells in the urine.

So these are the complications may expect the Charles.

The Charles can select the site to collect blood the opposite site of the mastectomy of the client that is here the client is having mastectomy on left side, so the site should be selected in the right side, because drain should be there in the surgery site and we should not get accurate results.
