3. If we carelessly remove the stopper from Flask #1 after the water has been sucked back in and allow the water in the rubber tubing to flow into Flask #1. The volume of water sucked back (Vw) will increase which reduced the value of the volume of cold air (V2) in Flask #1.

According to equation 4,

R = (V1 x T2)/(V2 x T1)

As the V2 is in the denominator. The decrease in the V2 value will increase the value of R which means the calculated value is too high.

4. If we fill completely fill the flask instead of filling it to the wax pencil mark as instructed while measuring the volume of air in flask #1. This will reduce the value of V1 which may lead to the ratio of the calculated value to be too low.

As in equation 4, R is directly proportional to V1. As the value of V1 decreases, the value R also decreases.
