To protect your privacy and identity, it is best to blog anonymously unless your blog is intentionally attached to your name for professional reasons. It's harder to stay healthy than changing your name. Almost every detail can be used to define you: a username you use online somewhere, a description of where you live, the name of your area, initials, pseudonyms that are too close to real names, pictures of your kids or even a mention of a distinguishing characteristic. It takes a lot of time and energy to anonymise a blog.
