The physiological concerns raised by this patients condition is that the patient might have punctured his posterior part of his lungs because of the cervical bone fracture.

The two possible explanations are:

- either the patient might have posterior lung puncture or empyema

- or the patient might have been suffering from hematoma in the lungs or blood collection in the lungs
