Q1. What is conflict? Are conflicts in an organization always a bad thing?

A1.

The conflict within an organisation may be defined as a situation where there is disagreement among employees related to actual or perceived goals of an entity.
This situation occurs in an organisation when two or more employees interact with each other and there is difference in their believes, attitudes,and thought of each employee.

Conflict within an organisation cannot be termed as bad always:

  • conflict are a source of changes in policies and regulations within an organisation.
  • conflict brings in front of the management the shortcomings faced by the employees.
  • conflicts upgrade accountability and responsibilities of employees.


Q2. What are the three types of conflict?

The three types of conflicts are:

  1. Relationship conflict: arises due to tension arising among employees rather than project assigned to them.
  2. Task conflicts : disagreement lack of coordination among the employees related to the nature of work to be performed leads to conflict .
  3. Process conflict : it occurs when the employees have different opinions recording process to be followed to complete a given work.

Generally conflicts can occur anywhere and on any point.
The three loci(place) of conflict are:

  • At workplace.
  • At public place.
  • At personal workplace.

  1. lack of clear responsibility assigned to employees.
  2. different personalities of each employee working together.
  3. scarcity of resources.
  4. disorientation among personal goals of employees and goals of an organisation.
