Answer: EHR that is electronic health record system saves the patient related information. There are some of the challenges while storing patient data in EHR as:

  • Patient privacy: One of the major concern is the patient's privacy regarding the healthcare information. This is because the number of staffs that operate the system may peep or know the patient's healthcare information. This is one of the most challenging situation.
  • Misuse of data: Generally the data saved in the EHR can be misuse easily or hacked by the hackers. These information can be easily misused for any purpose.
  • Exchange of information: The information that are being exchanged within the healthcare organization has major threat of the information. Because sometimes it is risk to transfer the data.
  • Errors: Most of the time, those staff who are on under training or doesn't have much knowledge makes mistakes. Hence unknowingly it causes problems to the patient.

Electronic order entry system can improve the healthcare at different levels as this includes that the physician or the healthcare providers provides medicines that are saved in the system. Hence it reaches to the pharmacy and the medications are dispensed. This process includes two verification of the medication as well as sved data also. This reduces and eliminates the risk of medical errors and hence provides quality of care to the patients.
