5.Effects of Amantidine on symptoms of Parkinsons Disease :

Amantidine is used for Parkinsons Disease in initial days to reduce tremors.It can also be used for dyskinesia.

  • It helps to relieve the involuntary symptoms that occurs as a side effect of levodopa
  • It releases greater amounts of Dopamine in the brain that relieves the patient from Tremors.

6. Appropriate response to the family is

  • Importance of levodopa and it's unavoidable treatment effects on the brain.
  • Dyskinesia or involuntary movements that results with the use of Levodopa
  • The research results that prove Amantidine reduces tremors.

Dopamine agonists reduce the symptoms that are related to low levels of Dopamine. Dopamine agonists reduce the effects of Dopamine with out any conversion.They bind with the dopamine receptors of the nerve cells and regulates the motor functions of the body.

Catechol - O - methyl transferase inhibitors are used to wipe of the effects caused by Levodopa.This actually increases the peripheral life of Levodopa.

8. Anticholinergic drugs used for Parkinson's

There are a number of anti cholinergic drugs such as benzotropine, Trihexiphenidyl, procyclidine etc.Anti cholinergic actually block the Acetyl choline receptors and helps to reduce the effects of decreased dopamine levels.

Side effects: Blurred vision, dry eyes, Urinary retention, cognitive problems, Arrhythmias, Constipation, Drowsiness etc.

Anticholinergics are usually used for the symptoms of Parkinsons that results from acetylcholine.
