Develop one source of stress women experience, measures they can use to manage the stress and the physical and emotional strain it can have on the body and one’s lifestyle. What positive steps can women incorporate when she experiences stress?

Stress occurs as a result of constant exposure to the stressors. Long term stress causes serious impact on health if left untreated. Women are at a greater risk of developing stress related complications. It also creates a marked impact on mental health of the women. There are various sources of stress among women like discrimination on the basis of gender in the society, poor economical stays,poverty, emotional,physical and sexual assault,child abuse,post traumatic stress disorder,pregnancy and its complications.

The one source of major concern among every women is pregnancy and labor. Stress during pregnancy will affect both mother and developing fetus health. Depression during pregnancy affect the development of the fetus. Excess stress during pregnancy forces the women either to avoid intake of healthy foods or consuming excess food. Excess consumption of food contributes to developing gestational diabetes a condition in which there is an excess elevation of blood glucose level that leads delivery of big baby and thereby predisposing complications during labor. Excess stress also increases blood pressure that results in preeclampsia,pregnancy induced hypertension leads to premature delivery with low birth weight infant.

The positive steps to incorporate during stressful events are : Practicing deep breathing techniques that helps in relaxing muscles and thus reducing stress. Mild exercises reduces the tension. Adequate hours of sleeping reduces fatigue and helps in gaining positive energy. Nutritional intake of foods rich in vitamin B generates energy to the neurons. Gaining support from the family members act as stress buster. Meditation helps in reducing negative thoughts. Avoid following unhealthy ways of handling stress like eating junk foods,smoking,alcohol consumption,eating less or eating more.
