Answer #1

16.

weight of the patient = 132 lb

1 kg = 2.2 lb

Thus patient weight in kg = 132 \div 2.2 = 60 kg

The ordered dose of flurouracil = 12mg/kg/day

Thus the amount of drug the client should receive  per day = 12 x 60 = 720 mg

Thus the answer is, the client should receive 720 mg / day

17.

Patients weight = 45 kg

Dose to be administered = 10 mg / kg = 45 x 10 = 450 mg

1mL stock contains 130 mg

Thus the formula is,

Volume to be administered = Desired dose/ available strength x volume available

= 450/ 130 x 1

= 3.46 mL

Thus the answer is, the amount of luminal tobe administered in mL = 3.46 mL

18.

a) Amount to be administered = 50 mg qid

Available strength of stock = 125 mg/ 5mL

Volume to be administered = Desired dose/ available strength x volume available

= 50 \div 125 x 5

= 2 m L

Answer is 2 m L

b) Patient weight = 15 lb = 33 kg

Prescribed dose per day = 50 mg qid = 50 x 3 = 150 mg

Recommended drug dosage given = 20 mg - 40 mg / kg / day

20 x 33 = 660 mg / day and 40 x 33 = 1320 mg per day

The recommended dosage of drug range  = 660mg - 1320 mg / day

Thus the answer is, the drug dosage is below the recommended level.

19.  Weight of the child = 33 lbs = 15 kg ( 1kg = 2.2 lbs)

The dose of the drug per day = 40mg/kg/day

a) The amount of medication to be received per day = 40 mg x 15 kg = 600 mg/day

hence answer is 600 mg/day

b) 600 mg/day is to be administered as four divided doses

Thus amount to be administered per dose is 600mg/4 = 150mg / dose

Stock solution of the drug is 250mg/5 mL

Volume to be administered = Desired dose/ available strength x volume available

150 mg / 250 mg x 5 = 3 mL

Answer is 3 mL
