- Most common anaphylactic triggers in an individual are food allergies to eggs, gluten rich diet, peanuts, milk and also certain drugs.
- Symptoms are Skin rashes, hives, swelling on lips or tongue, difficulty in breathing, chest tightness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, Abdominal colic, Swelling in throat, low blood pressure.
Underlying Principles:-
When an individual is exposed to the allergen, the immune system releases chemical from mast cells and basophils resulting in anaphylactic reaction affecting respiratory, cardiovascular, cutaneous and Gastrointestinal system of the body.
Nursing Interventions:-
- Monitor Client's airway to assess for sensation of narrowed airway.
- Intubation
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- IV fluids
