We all know the importance of washing our hands. Now, you see hand sanitizer that is available for purchase as well. How do you feel about how often it is used? Do you think hand sanitizer should take the place of washing your hands? What are the pros and cons of using hand sanitizer?

I feel to use hand-sanitizer only on some purpose day like visiting hospitals.

No, I don't think that a hand-sanitizer should take the place of washing my hands because it kills both good and bad bacteria.

pros -

  • it kills germs (bacteria and viruses) of the hands.
  • it also reduces its spread through sharing or handshakes.
  • it is accessible and convenient to store.
  • they are mostly cost-effective and have a shelf-life of 3 years.
  • as it is less likely to react with skin so it generally does not cause any skin infections.

cons -

  • they are not suitable against substances like grease. they are effective against germs only.
  • frequent use of hand sanitizer will cause the killing of good bacteria of the hands, which will have an impact on the immune system. it has a greater impact on the children because they suffer from vomiting a d stomachache.
  • they are flammable in nature.
  • it offers a short-term solution.
  • it might lead to antibiotic resistance.
