The following conversation is between Alice & Selina from the Sales Department. They have just finished attending a briefing with their Sales Manager about their new product, ‘Magic Hand Spray Sanitizer ABC: One & Only Killer of All Viruses, including COVID-19’.

Alice: Don’t you think that our new hand sanitizer is too good to be true

Selina: What do you mean?

Alice: Well, we claimed that the product can kill all types of bacteria and viruses, even COVID-19. We also claimed that the product can enhance human immunization. As far as I know, no vaccine is available yet and yet we have made such a claim. I don’t buy that. We have never tested the product in the lab. How can we claim such results?

Selina: You are thinking too much Jenny. It is not our position to educate them.

Alice: So, do you think they will believe all these?

Selina: I think we should leave it to the customers. The focus is to sell it, and you and I, we have to sell at least 10,000 units to achieve the target.

In your opinion, why does Selina decided to ‘leave it to the customers?’ (25 marks)

Answer #1

Here we will discuss the case of Alice and Selina. In this case, both of the girls talked about the selling of hand sanitizers claiming not such exact results because the hand sanitizers got not even clinically tested in the lab. Hence, there is no vaccine available, yet they are making big claims regarding the hand sanitizer.

In our opinion, when Selena decided to 'leave it to the customer.' He meant not to put the hand in the decision taken by the superiors. Nevertheless, if we get on to the ethical and moral aspect, this is wrong because there should not be claiming such high claims regarding a product that is not even tested clinically in the lab. Hence, cleaning each hai cleans can lead to guiding the customers towards the wrong path, just with the motive of earning profits is ethically illegal and inappropriate. Completing targets to neglect the consumer believes and health is not such an appreciable act. When Selina said to leave it to the customer, she did not want to create awareness for acknowledging the fact that their company was indulging into a wrong act and she kept it very simple by saying that customers are responsible for their actions keeping in mind if they want to buy the sanitizer on not.
