I have had a discussion with a number of physicians who are opposed to hiring nurse practitioners, and they have one common answer, lack of the medical model in the nurse practitioner's education. I hear a lot of physicians complaining that nurse practitioners do not follow or even learn about the medical model and therefore their education is lacking the basics to be a quality primary provider. What are your thoughts about that concern?

In healthcare sector the physician are considered to be the highest professionals in treating a patient. Though there is shortage of staff the physician still oppose the implementation of the nurse practitioner always with a single reason of lack of medical model.

The medical model is the basis of a provider but not for all.The nurse though if it is not in their theoretical portion in briefly but a nurse practitioner have the knowledge regarding the same which is in medical model through their experiences. This can help them to diagnose and treat a patient effectively equivalent to a provider. This concern can be over rided if the nurse practitioner has a good clinical and theoretical knowledge.
