3. Explain the differences between the innate and adaptive immune defenses.
Innate immunity - It is the primary immunity of the human body present with birth, it also called non-specific immunity because it does not care about the type and the structure of antigens, it is a first-line defense for all types of antigens.
Example - Physical barrier like skin protects us from all antigens.
GI tract, Respiratory tract, Mucos membrane and Ciilia in the respiratory tract.
Chemical barrier - Chemicals in the blood
Cells - Phagocytes (It engulf and digest foreign particles)
Macrophages, Mast cells, Neutrophils, etc
Adaptive immunity - This is also known as acquired immunity because it is acquired after birth. It is also known as specific immunity because it contains highly specialized cells to fight with different types of antigens.
It can create an immunological memory for new types of infection to prevent it in the future like we only suffered once in chickenpox in our whole life.
This immune system creates a specific antibody against specific types of antigens, to kill them.
Examples of are B cells and T cells.
This immunity can be acquired by immunization, naturally in the body against any infection, can be transferred from mother or antibodies can be directly injected.
3. Explain the differences between the innate and adaptive immune defenses.

Innate versus adaptive immune classification Is each picture or description part of your immune system's innate response, adaptive response, or both?
Explain the role of innate immune cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells in adaptive immunity in regards to cancer.
Outline the type of immune responses to diphtheria. Innate and/or adaptive?
Describe differences between Innate and Adaptive Immunity List up 3 methods to control Healthcare-Associated Infections
1.Which cells are the link between the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system? 1. A. Memory cells B. Cytotoxic T-cells C. Antigen-Presenting cells D. Endothelial cells 2.Epidemiological clues to the cause of an infectious disease include statistics on: A. age, geographic location, genetics, and sex of victims B. rate and pattern of spread through a population C. time of year D. all of the above
Outline the Innate (Non-specific) Immune system, both the 1st and 2nd line of defenses.
Why does the primary adaptive immune response take longer to manifest than the innate immune response? (in details please)
8. Compare and contrast the mechanisms by which the innate and adaptive immune response recognize pathogens. Make sure you are specific in your response.
1) The adaptive immune system is slower to respond than the innate system after first exposure to an allergen because:
