Evidence based practice means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research. Evidence based practice in nursing is called EBN ( evidence based nursing ) and evidence based practice nursing committee is the committee developed to follow evidence based practice in day to day patient care . Three components of evidence-based practice are
- Clinical expertise
- Current best evidence
- Client/patient perspectives
Evidence-based nursing (EBN) is an approach to make quality decisions and providing nursing care based upon personal clinical expertise in combination with the most current, relevant research available . Using evidence based practice helps the nurse to provide patient centred, efficient care which is cost effective .
Yes, I have served in the evidence based practice committee when I was working in Fortis ICU . There was a separate team of nurses who encouraged use of evidence based practice and involved in research activities . Our incharge used to post every staff in this team for a week to learn how to use evidence based practice in providing care and after learning we used to get an assignment to find a new evidence based on research . It was a nice training session which helped us to upgrade our knowledge and practical skills .
