Immune system is the part of human body that fights against disease causing microbes by various ways like producing antibodies, phagocytosing them.

functions of immune system are:

  • Immunity that is gained by birth is called innate immunity which protects a baby from diseases by physical barriers like skin, acidic ph in gastric juice protect an individual.
  • immunity acquired in the lifespan of individual is called acquired immunity and protect an individual from different infections acquired from environment or from other individuals. This is acquired from vaccines.
  • passive immunity is gained from other organisms and works for short time like readymade antibodies in antisera from animals, antibodies in mother milk.
