Answer #1

Ans) hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (Hct):

Normal values hemoglobin:
men: 14-18 g/dL
women: 12-16

Normal values hematocrit:
-men 42-52 %
-women 36-45%

Hct and Hgb ranges higher in men than in women:

Hct: male> female

- Androgens stimulate RBC production, and men have higher androgen levels than women. Women of reproductive age have periodic menstrual losses. The hematocrit is inversely proportional to percent body fat, which is higher in women than in men. Also in blood clots faster and the skin have fewer blood vessels than in women

Hb: male> female
- women have more red cells in their microvasculature than men do at the same venous haemoglobin level. Women have lower red cell mass because of greater efficiency in tissue oxygenation per unit red cell mass.
