Factors affecting labor process:

1. Fetal Head Size-cephalopelvic lopsidedness (CPD) child's head or body is too enormous to even think about fitting through the mother's pelvis.

2. Attitude-relationship of the fetal body parts to one and other (level of flexion)

· Complete Flexion-generally normal; "the fetal position"; vertex introduction; jawline contacts the chest

· Moderate Flexion-second generally normal; "military position"; sinciput introduction; jawline doesn't contact the chest

· Partial Extension-extraordinary; forehead introduction; can make birth troublesome

· Complete Extension-moderately uncommon; face introduction; the occiput contacts the babies upper back<

3. Lie-relationship of the fetal spine to the maternal spine

· Longitudinal Lie

· Transverse lie

· Oblique lie

4. Position-relationship of the introducing some portion of the embryo to a particular quadrant of the mother's pelvis

· First Letter-what direction the introducing part is confronting

· Second Letter-the introducing some portion of the hatchling

· Third Letter-what direction the introducing part is lying corresponding to maternal pelvis

5. Presentation-the piece of the embryo that presents into the birth channel first. Decide by mentality, falsehood, and position.

· Cephalic fetal introduction

· Breech introduction
