Abstract
Medical health insurance is one of the most discussed topics in the media, among patients, and healthcare providers. In fact, medical health insurance coverage plays a significant role in the outcome of a patient healthcare because it determines the quality of care and the type of treatments that a patient may receive. Although medical health insurance is essential for patients and their care, it can become very costly. But the cost of medical care can be even more devastating to a family that cannot afford coverage. Medical bills can be a financial burden on these families. In addition, families that cannot afford to pay or have minimum coverage, there care is very different according to research. Significant research has proven the pros and cons of patients that have enough coverage or the right type of coverage versus those that do not. This paper will offer some insight into how the health insurance companies operates, the types of insurances that are available, and how insurance works. This paper will also discuss how patients are impacted with or without medical health insurance.
Health care in the US is very expensive. Health insurance
companies offer payment to reduce such costs with reasonable and
affordable reason. Health insurance plan control costs with
influence on providers. It has contracted with the providers'
network for providing supplies and services at an affordable cost.
US health care system introduces a standard insurance plan benefit
for essential health benefits for emergency care, preventive
service, screening, lab test, inpatient and outpatient care,
rehabilitation, etc. Some health plans like deductible,
coinsurance, copays are sharing payment from patient out of pocket
costs. If you pay less, you have to pay more while receiving
care.
Health insurance plans have four types. Health maintenance
organization(HMO), preferred provider organization(PPO), point of
service plans(POS) and High-deductible health plans(HDHP). HMO
health maintenance organization insurance plan that provides health
service for the fixed annual fee.
Preferred provider organization(PPO) medical care that medical
professionals and facilities provide service with reduced
rates.
POS is managed care health insurance plan provide different benefit
depend upon individual insurance plan.
High-deductible health plan insurance with a high minimum
deductible for medical care it allows less insurance premium with
tax-advantaged health saving account.
Lack of health insurance for vulnerable populations like a child,
old people, women, chronic ill populations can not access their
health service due to high-cost health care service, they suffer
from chronic illness, lack of screening, preventive services,
suffer from malnutrition, mental illness, chronic illness, and
infectious disease. it increases the mortality and morbidity rate.
Many Americans having health insurance under the private and
public-funded program for their routine access to health care,
these people have better health outcomes due to their health
insurance coverage.
