First of all we need to know the meaning of a joint. A joint is defined as the the juncture where two or more bones come together for the purpose of moment or stability. So,normally we can say it is the ability to move throughout its range of motion and perform work.
Joints are very important for the function of the skeleton . Tera the followings
1) They bind the skeleton together which gave structure and allowed muscles to move, wants to perform several task suggest running , grasping, climbing etc.
2) moments success gliding, angular, rotational, inversion, eversion, dorsiflexion, supination etc done by joints.
3) they make the skeleton flexible-without them moment would be impossible
4) Joints hold the skeleton together and provides range of motion.
5) It allowing full movements include many bone articulation in the upper and lower limbs ,example of these include elbow, shoulder and ankle.
Recording to the function of joints,it is divided into three ranges of motion
1) synarthrosis-immovable joints example skull suture
2)Amphiarthrosis- slight movement example distal joint between tibia and fibula
3)Diarthrosis- full movement example elbow ,shoulder and ankle
