1) Fibrous joints are immovable joints where bones are bound by collagen fibres.

3 subclasses are (a) Syndesmoses - bones are bounded by ligament and placed at some distance away from each other. Eg- radio-ulna

(b) Gomphoses - such joints contains pegs present in a socket and bounded by ligament. Eg - tooth and socket.

(c) Sutures- Special joints present in cranium where bones are attached tightly.

2) Fibrous joints are found in few parts like cranium, radius and ulna etc, these joints provides strength and support to the joints and skeleton.

3) Cartilaginous joints are slightly movable and bones are attached by cartilages. Sub types are

(a) Synchondroses - bones are attached together by the help of hyaline cartilage.

(b) Symphyses - slightly movable joints where bones are attached by the help of fibrous cartilage.

4) Cartilaginous joints are present pelvic girdle , in between ribs and sternum etc these joints provides strength and also provide limited flexibility for functions like Breathing, parturition etc.
