Answer #1

Problem:1

Weight of Dumphy = 7 pears

Intramuscular dose ordered is = 4 cherries / grapes

Step:1- Convert the weight of Dumphy from pears to cherries

  • conversion factor given - 1 pear/ 3 grapes
  • therefore 7 pears/ x grapes
  • cross multiplication = x grapes * 1 pear = 7 pears * 3 grapes
  • canceling common terms on either side of the equation
  • x *1 = 7*3
  • x=21
  • Therefore the weight of Dumphy = 7 pears = 21 grapes..............(1)

Step:2 - Calculate the i.m. dose for Dumphy

The dose ordered is 4 cherries/ grapes

Therefore from statement (1)

4 cherries/ grapes of medication are to be given to a pig weighing 21 grapes

The dose of medication = 4 * 21 = 84 cherries of medication has to be given to Dumphy who weighs 21 grape.....(2)

Step:3 Calculating the weight of medicine to be given to Dumphy

As per (2).. Dumphy needs 84 cherries of medication

  1. The medicine concentration is 5 cherries/ apple
  2. In other words, 1 apple contains 5 cherries
  3. then how many apples while contain 84 cherries = 84/5 = 16.8 apples.

Final answer: The dose of intramuscular medication is 84 cherries and 16.8 apple weight of the drug will provide this dose.

Problem:2

The dose of medication orders is 6 pebbles

The medicine contains 12 pebbles/rock

Therefore, 1 rock of medicine contains 12 pebbles

So how many rocks of medicine will be required to give 6 pebbles of medicine - y

12 pebbles/ rock = 6 pebbles/ y rocks

y= 6/12 = 0.5 rocks

Final answer = 0.5 rocks weight of the drug will provide 6 pebbles dose of medication.

Problem: 3

Step:1 Convert the weight from roses to marigold

the conversion factor provided = 10 marigold/ rose

Weight of panther: 5 roses

Therefore : 10 marigold/ rose = a marigold/ 5 rose

therefore: a = 10 * 5 = 50 marigolds

The weiight of panther is 5 roses = 50 marigolds

Step:2 Calculate the dose

  • the dose ordered 40 pansies/ marigold
  • therefore the dose for 50 marigold is "b"
  • 40 pansies/ marigold = b pansies/ 50 marigold
  • b = 40 * 50 =2000 pansies
  • So, Pather who weights 50 marigolds requires a dose of 2000 pansies

Step:3 Calculate the weight of the medicine that will provide dose of 2000 pansies

  • the concentration of medicine is 20 zinnias/ pansies
  • In other words, 1 pansies contain 20 zinnias of medication
  • So the 2000 pansies are present in "c" zinnias
  • 20 zinnias / 1 pansies = c zinnias / 2000 pansies
  • c zinnias = 20 * 2000 / 1 = 40,000 zinnias.

Final statement - 40, 000 zinnias weight of medication will provide a dose of 2000 pansies.
