How do interspecies viruses mutate into potential pandemics? Please choose the statement which is wrong.

The human environment is like a bat environment, so it did not take long for the virus to jump species.

Interspecies viruses acquire mutations to adapt to aspects of several species, which can be a deadly combination for another species’ immune system.

When the virus is carried about the world through both humans and animals, it is harder to stop the spread.

In the challenges it faces to adapt to different species, it acquires special capabilities which are challenging for human immune systems to tackle.

How would the New York State Reproductive Health Law of 2019 regard the choices available to a 16-year old adolescent pregnant for 90 days, who is suffering from epilepsy, on carbamazepine? She wants an abortion against the wishes of her parents. Can she get one without her parents’ knowledge?   Would her OB/Gyn consider this as a high risk pregnancy?

An emancipated minor can opt for an abortion without requiring her parents’ agreement. This as a high risk pregnancy, due to a Pregnancy Risk D category medication.

A minor cannot decide to stop her pregnancy without parental consent in NY state. Her pregnancy is high risk due to being under 18, and taking a Pregnancy Risk D medication. This NYS law permits minors to choose to abort, whether their parents agree or not.

She is at high risk since she is under 18, and due to taking carbamazepine, which is a pregnancy C category .

She is not really at risk since she is only 90 days pregnant and her carbamazepine takes a while to have a teratogenic effect. The NY State law treats her as an emancipated minor who has the right to choose abortion despite parental wishes.

During country-wide emergencies, there are national protocols put in place for medical team heads. If the nurse is in moral distress from the decisions made, her advocacy to the decision-makers during debriefing is valuable feedback to improve evaluation.

The nurse should object during the emergency, since his/her conscience tells her/him to do it. He/she has to remain true to their own viewpoint

The nurse should only stick to the Ethical Code of Nursing, since each profession should value its own perspective the most.

-   Leadership and teamwork during a national emergency requires coordination, so even if the nurse feels the protocols do not fit the situation the patients are experiencing, one must stand by that protocol under any circumstances.
