I have chosen the topic of obesity. Because obesity is a vital problem in  America. More than 35% of the people are obese which not only affects physical health but also affects mental health. It increases the health risk and affects the quality of life. It is a global problem which affects the social and economic impact of the country.

Obesity is a condition associated with many health problems. If the patient Body Mass Index greater than 30 will be considered as obese. Studies show the most common cause of obesity is lifestyle factors. People with sedentary lifestyle habits have more risk than active individuals. Obesity leads to the pathway of most of the chronic diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and other psychological effects. It can be treated with medication, yoga, surgery but prevention is better than cure. More than 113,000 cases of Bariatric surgery is done every year. This increases the healthcare cost of the U.S. So focusing more on obesity prevention will help to get a permanent solution to the problem.

Change the eating habits of adolescents from childhood itself. Make awareness of people about the importance of physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight. Encourage the people to calculate the daily calorie intake and burns. Reduce the amount of carbohydrate content and increase the whole grains, fibers. Help them to pick out healthy foods and minimize junk foods. Initiate a weight reduction program and stress management program for weight loss. Federal, state, and local health policies should ban junk foods and packaged foods should meet the required conditions.
