Why is harm reduction not as widely recognized as AA/NA?
Please do not define the basis of each program/procedure.
Harm reduction is considered as a strategy to protect and respect people who use drugs thereby advocating people who are addicted to drugs by avoiding stigma or labeling by the community.
Harm reductions aims at minimizing the risk associated with the usage of drugs or substance abuse. Compared to AA harm reduction enables the person with addition to continue their bad habits. Conversely they promote the habits such as drinking, drug usage and so on. For person having difficulty in controlling their habits harm reduction strategy is of no use. It is totally interconnected with the self-control of the person which may be hard thing to achieve for people with addiction. Thus it is considered as an unrealistic expectation as compared to AA.
