Functional foods consist of conventional foods and modified foods.

Conventional foods: fruits, vegetables, nuts

Modified foods: cereal, yogurt, orange juice

Examples of functional food with health benefits:

1) sardines: sardines helps in preventing heart diseases. These are rich in minerals,vitamins and calcium

2) barley: rich in nutrients, improves digestion, helps in loosing weight

3) berries: reduces inflammation, lowers blood cholesterol and maintains sugar level in blood

4) broccoli : it has many nutrients and vitamins.

5) chia seeds: helps in loosing weight and has many nutrients, antioxidants and fiber.

6) milk : it strengthen the bones, provides energy and maintains blood pressure

7) fortified cereal: these are filled with vitamins and minerals and helps in improving Health
