Answer #1

In this Scenario, The patient was presented with Labor respiratory distress syndrome. Here it is not confirmed that whether Demerol injection is given to the patient or not. But as per the symptom, I think the patient may receive Demerol Injection.

The adverse reaction of Demerol overdose is Respiratory distress Syndrome. In this case, first provide the supportive measure to relieve respiratory distress syndrome is Oxygen administration only.

Immediately after administering Oxygen, Administer the Antidote against the respiratory distress. The narcotic antagonist, Naloxone hydrochloride(NARCAN), is a specific antidote against respiratory depression which may result from over dosage or unusual sensitivity to narcotics, including Demerol. Naloxone works by blocking the effects of opiates on the brain and thereby restoring the breathing.

From the above details it is clear that your Opinion was right only.
