- These are the laws passed in Parliament (federal level) or in the provincial or territorial legislatures — a federal law, passed by government, (Canada Health Act).

Example of Statutory law:

• Nurses Practice Acts

Administrative law:

- Enabling statutes enacted to define powers and procedures when an agency is created.

- Reflects decisions made by administrative bodies such as state boards of nursing when they pass rules and regulations. (An example is the requirements to report incompetent or unethical nurshing condcut to the state board of nursing)
