Answer #1

ANSWER.

2 .Calculation of amount(ml) of aminophylline would contain 200 mg of this drug.

Formula = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

                  Desired dose(D) = 200 mg.

                  Dose in hand (H) = 500 mg.

                           Quantity(Q) = 20 ml.

        As per formula

                Amount (ml) of aminophylline in

                  200 mg of this drug = D / H * Q

                                                                     = 200 / 500 * 20

                                                                     = 0.4 * 20

                                                                     = 8 ml.

3. Calculation of amount( ml) of Pitocin prepared.

Formula = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

                   Desired dose(D) = 20 units.

                  Dose in hand (H) = 10 unit.

                         Quantity (Q) = 1 ml.

       As per formula

          Amount of pitocin prepared = D / H * Q.

                                                          = 20 / 10 * 1

                                                          = 2 * 1

                                                          = 2 ml.

4. Calculation of amount (ml) of pre-anesthetic administered.

Formula = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

                     Desired dose (D) = 4mcg/kg/ q3hr.

Conversion of mcg to mg required to find desired dose in mg.

                                       1 mcg = 0.001 mg.

                         So

                                       4 mcg = 0.004 mg.

Patient body weight = 46 kg.

                       Desired dose (D) = 0.004 * 46

                                                    = 0.18mg.

                       Dose in hand (H) = 0.2 mg.

                            Quantity(Q) = 1 ml.

          As per formula

              Amount(ml) of pre-anesthetic should be

   administered = D / H * Q.

                                   = 0.18 / 0.2 * 1

                                     = 0.9 * 1

                                  = 0.9 ml.
