17.Calculation of the fluid maintenance rate of

a 18yr old child.

Formula = 40ml + 2ml/kg for next 10kg.

Weight of the child = 18kg.

Fluid maintenance rate for 10 kg = 40ml.

Fluid maintenance rate per

balance 8 kg = 2 * 8

= 16ml.

So as per formula

Fluid maintenance rate of

a 18 yr old children = 40 + 16

= 56 ml/hr
