Answer #1

Lactococcus lactis features :-

Gram Stain: +

Cell Morphology: ovoid cocci

Cell Arrangement: chains and some pairs

Acid-Fast Stain: -

Motility (wet mount): -

Capsule: +

Spore Stain: -

# Theory of Morphological Unknown (confirmatory test, the only hard and fast rule, it is nice if, it is also nice if, another consideration)

Confirmatory Test: a final stain that serves as further evidence that you have identified your unknown correctly

The only hard and fast rule about confirmatory tests is that they can't have been used during the identification process.

It is nice if the confirmatory test also serves to differentiate the identified organism from the other organisms on the last branch of the flowchart.

It is also nice if the confirmatory test is anticipated to give a positive result because we generally have more confidence in positive results than negative results.

Another consideration is that you might want to choose a particular stain for the confirmatory test simply for practice because it was difficult for you.

# Application of Morphological Unknown

Schemes employing differential tests are the main strategy for microbial identification.

# Purpose of Morphological Unknown

Practice the stains and familiarize yourself with the standard process of elimination used in bacterial identification.
