Theory to Practice Cardiac

Gary Thomaier is male patient who is currently 83 years old. He has been diagnosed with the diabetes mellitus 2(DM2), chronic pain, cerebrovascular accident(CVA), coronary artery disease(CAD), chronic kidney disease(CKD), hypertension(HTN), congestive heart failure(CHF) among other conditions. In his current medical situation, Gary Thomaier is doing better. He has recovered from a UTI infection from few weeks ago, however he cannot be discharged yet as his wife cannot take care of him by herself. Generally, he reports to have a good appetite and sleeping pattern. Moreover, he states to have no pain, fever, chills, cough, sob, wheezing. nausea, vomiting or au urinary and bowel symptoms.

   Medical Surgical Concepts

Gary Thomaier’ treatment procedure has involved a number of medical surgical applications including pacemaker surgery, back surgery, tonsillectomy, and appendectomy. A pacemaker is performed under local anesthetics. It involves implanting a pacemaker and it does not necessarily need an open heart. A back surgery is performed to treat spinal diseases such as spinal tumors, spinal stenosis, or spinal fractures. Tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure in which palatine tonsil are removed while appendectomy is a surgical operation in which the vermiform appendix is removed.

Pharmacological application

Gary Thomaier received the following medications. His depression was managed by duloxetine while his HTN managed by clonidine, carvedilol, diltiazem while allergic rhinitis prescribed to Flonase and cromolyn nasal spray. Diabetes mellitus 2 was managed by glargine, lispro, while CAD prescribed to Plavix, carvedilol, and isorsobide mono. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) was put under terazosin and minoxidil medication.
