FORMING COMMITTEES You are the chairperson of a large IS Committee in charge of implementing a new EHR. The committee is so large that you are not getting anything done. For example, you met for 4 hours yesterday and only got through 3 of the 15 items on the agenda, because everyone wants to have his or her say on each issue. The committee make-up is as follows: Project leader HIM Director Vice President, Finance Vice President, Clinical Services Chief Information Officer Director, Lab Director, Radiology Four computer programmers Vice President, Nursing Two vendor representatives Director, Cardiopulmonary Services Director, Materials Management Director, Research Three systems analysts Two database administrators Director, Training The decision has been made to create subcommittees. The subcommittees will be: Training Data Management (data quality, data collection, and data retrieval) Development (programming, customization) Conversion Interfaces All representatives should be on at least one subcommittee. Interdisciplinary review team, needed for health care facility activities..Medical record committee familiar with medical records for completeness and timeliness..Medical records committee will look organization ongoing records review programs, the review and approval of forms and format for the medical record, in electronic applications..Membership includes physicians, nurses,clinical care providers,HIM managers..Members of this committee involve in patients right to privacy and information in the medical records..Health information management subcommittee is charged with the evaluation and improvement of patient care by recommendation,approval and development of policies and procedures to make sure that medical records are complete,timely and clinically approved..the committee reviews clinical staffs and health system policies and rules and regulations relating to medical records completion,format,filling,storage,retention and availability and recommends methods of implementation..Standards of health information(HIS) monitoring and reporting the quality plan in health system..Committee analyze results and takes appropriate action to address areas for improved performance and communicates the results and actions to administration and clinical staffs..Committee will look for documentations and access and confidentially sub-committees..
