Muscles ,bones and joints work together to cause the movement of body parts . Muscles insert into bones by their tendons . ( insert term 1). Tendons are the cartilaginous joints which connects a muscle to bone .

The attachment closer to the center of the body is called the muscles proximal insertion ( insert term 2) . Anything close to the center is called proximal .

The attachment farther from the center of the body is called the muscles distal insertion ( insert term 3) . Anything far from the center is called distal .
