Nursing Informatics(NI) is the speciality that integrates nursing science with multiple information management and analytical sciences.It incorporates nursing, computer, and information sciences to maintain and develop medical data and systems to support the practice of nurses and to improve patient care outcomes.

Role of a nurse in MI and health information technology safety

1. Proper documentations about the patient care( procedures, findings, history collection etc.)

2. Communicate to the I.T staff.

3. Clarify the doubts regarding new systems and technology.

4. Up date the knowledge regarding new health technology safety.

Experience: As a nurse educator I emphasise the importance of the NI to my students. NI supports nurses , consumers ,patients, the inter professional health care team and also other stake holders. I used to encourage students to update knowledge related to new system of health safe technology. Use of information structures, information processes and information technology can be combined in accomplishing the support frm every where.
