Answer: When there is problem with the thyroid gland such as there is disturbance in the thyroid hormones then primary care provider should refer patient to an endocrinologist.

The hypothyroidism is the condition when the thyroid hormones get inactive or under active condition. The treatment includes medication such as levothyroxin which is a synthetic hormone. It is given on daily basis consumption.

The treatment for hyperthyroidism includes anti thyroid medicines and beta blockers. Medicines such as methimazole. Sometimes radioactive iodine is being used.
