with gram-negative organisms...Patients when they are in the
hospital micro aspirants decrease the mobility and make changes in
the oral cavity with microbes and reach the pulmonary tract.
Daily care for the patient whether they are in the ventilator or
non-ventilator effective oral or hygiene is important to prevent
associated infection and disease...
Pneumonia risk can be prevented in the way by
-Early mobilization
-Preventing aspiration risk
-Patient headend should be elevated
-make sure the lung expansion
-increase oral care importance with standardized practice and
knowledge.
-If the patient using denture it should be removed at the time of
admission.
-Advice the patient to rinse their mouth every after the
meal.
- In case of stomatitis, every 2 hours nurses must provide oral
care.
-Provide soft brush for the non-ventilator patient and clean gauze
pieces for ventilator patients to perform oral care.
- advice the patient to use warm saline with sodium bicarbonate for
mouth wash.
- Avoid high alcohol content, lemon glycerin swabs and other
commercial mouthwashes for mouth care to prevent ulcer
- Always provide soft, well ground and nonacidic food for
patients.
-In case of oral pain and stomatitis apply topical analgesics as
prescribed by the physician and monitor the reaction
carefully.
