Answer: It is necessary for the nurse to prevent the spread of bacteria because bacteria causes many infection and disease. It may worsen the condition of the patient and prolonged the time of healing.

Bacteria can be spread through various ways such as:

  • Improper discarding the dressing materials
  • Unhygienic conditions of the hospitals.
  • Not washing hands or using sanitizer after touching a patient.
  • Blood samples or any fluid of patient taken for the lab test which are not disposed properly can spread bacteria.

The types of infection acquired in hospital are:

  • Urinary tract infection: It is the most common disease or Infection that is caused in the hospital by using the toilets.
  • Pneumoniae: Air borne diseases are also commonly as patient suffering from Pneumonia can easily transmit the infection.
  • Surgical site infect can be happened when the equipments are being used which are not sterile.

Healthcare professionals can prevent the infection by maintaining proper hygiene in the hospital, sterilization of the equipments used and disposal of the waste products.
