Answer #1

A. ANS: My observations from this lab, was that I touch almost everything around me and in the room without even realizing it. The rest of my class was the same, and most even hand glow in the dark “germs” all over their face and clothes. Since I do not think about all the surfaces I touch on a daily basis, the glow gel really illuminated how quickly this spread of germs can occur in such a short period of time

B. ANS: After washing my hands in warm water with soap (we just used cleaner since we had gloves on for this lab), had gloves on for this lab), there were still some germs present. I believe if we would have been able to do this lab without gloves on, and used proper hand washing technique, then we would not have seen left over germs. I noticed that the glow was only present in the creases of my hands, and there was a little present around my fingernails as well. After doing this, I then proceeded to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, which then removed most of the remaining germs that were illuminated by the black light.

C. ANS: After this experiment, I used the Liquinox cleaning solution on our lab counter, and I also sprayed some on a paper towel to wipe down my chair and pencil case. I left it on the counter for at least thirty seconds, and then I scrubbed the desk surface with paper towels.
