Tumor markers are the type of chemicals released by the by tumor cells which are released in the blood and detected in the blood by the enzymatic assay or analytical studies. These are the potential indicator for the diagnosing of cancer. It is reported that some tumor markers are very specific for the type cancer. Eg: alpha-fetoprotein and prostate-specific antigen.

Alpha-fetoprotein is the marker for liver cancer
