I downloaded this to get the answers for Chapter 2 1PCT about the correct order for intervention with a patient with a chest tube. Is there a way to get those answers or can you walk me through the steps?

Caring for a chest tube or a thoracic tube 7w as following

  • Aseptic handwashing has to be don while handling the chest tube to avoid infection and transmission of microorganisms
  • Keep the chest tube below the chest level to ensure drainage
  • Assess te safer level in the suction control chamber
  • Check for bubbling, intermittent bubling is normal whereas continuous bubbling indicates air leakage
  • Regular suction has to be done
  • Milking to be done only when ordered
  • Assess the oscillation in the water seal which indicates recovering from pneumothorax.
  • Never clamp the tube
  • Proper position for drainage
