Answer: Birth defects occurs due to many factors such as poor nutrition during pregnancy, unfavorable environment etc. But in India there are higher rates of birth defects due to unplanned pregnancy, poverty, poor health condition, improper knowledge etc.

The birth defects causes low healthcare access in India as people who generally suffers from this kind of defects mostly belongs to poor family. They don't have much expenses to spend on the healthcare, nutrition etc. as a result it causes birth defects.

Birth defect includes the underdevelopment or undeveloped condition of the body parts or the organs. For example, heart defects are the most common birth defects. These defect requires intensive care so there is an increase in the healthcare consideration.

Infants or the adults with the birth defects needs much care and hence they are required to get weekly or monthly consultation with the healthcare professionals for their routine checkup and treatment. The birth defects can be sometimes treated and most of the time it can't be managed.
