Answer :

Fallopian tubes :

  • Uterine tubes or oviducts .
  • About 10 cm long lined with ciliated epithelial .
  • Leading from ovaries to uterus.

Parts of fallopian tube :

  • Infundibulum .
  • Ampulla
  • Isthmus
  • Intramural portion.

Movement of ovum :

Mucosa layer of the uterine tube contain ciliated columnar epithelium cells » which convey the eggs in the uterus direction and meet with sperm in the ampulla » due to muscular contraction .

Movent of sperm :

Muscular external layer of uterine tube contain an inner circular smooth muscle » and a thin outer longitudinal smooth muscle » due to the contraction of those 2 muscles sperm is transported from uterus to ampulla » also some collated columnar epithelium cells help in sperm transport.

Zygote formation : when fusion occurs , zygote will be formed .after fertilization occured zygote is transported to the uterus .

Ingestion : fetus ingest the amniotic fluid and eliminate in the form of urine .

Following nidation and before the establishment of utero placental circulation ,the nutrition is derived from the eroded decidua by diffusion and later on from the stagnant maternal blood in the trophoblastic lacunae .

With establishment of the fetal circulation , nutrition is obtained by active and passive transfer from 3 rd week on wards .

Digestion :

In the fetal circulation , the nutrition will carried out by the umbilical veins and arteries .

Absorption : in the early post fertilization period , the nutrition is stored in the deutoplasm with in the cytoplasm and the very little extra nutrition needed is supplied from the tubal and uterine secretion.

Elimination : fetus will eliminate the urine in the woumb ,it will mixed with the amniotic fluid .

Acute and chronic conditions during Labour and delivery :

Acute conditions :

  • Dehydration .
  • Hypovolemia
  • Vomitings
  • Giddiness
  • Pain
  • Breathlessness .
  • Feeling of exhasion
  • Discomfort.
