Mediation/ Negotiation David is an alert and orientated 28 year old man with a terminal brain tumour. He has been sick for a year intermittently, having gone through two operations and rounds of chemotherapy. He has a Not for Resuscitation Order (NFR). David has agreed to the NFR order but his parents say that they are not ready to accept that he is dying and that a miracle might occur to cure the cancer. Answer: Not for Resuscitation Order is a written order by the physician to healthcare providers that not to initiate the CPR or any function for the patients who is irresponsive or will not survive.

In this stage, physician knows that nothing is going to work but the treatment would not be done because of NFR. Because the patient will not survive anymore. Once the NFR is accepted by the patient, no other amedmamen can take place until patient himself doesn't take any decision.
