1.ABILIFY (ARIPRIPRAZOLE)

Classification and indication for use

  • Is an antipsychotic drug
  • Schizophrenia
  • Major depressive disorder
  • Tourette disorder
  • Bipolar Mania
  • Bipolar I disorder
  • Tic disorder
  • Autism
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

Normal dosage

  • Adult (maximum dose 30mg/day)
    • Bipolar mood disorder 15mg OD
    • Manic disorder 2 to 15mg OD
  • Children
    • Bipolar disorder : start with 2mg daily increasing to 5 mg after 2 day and 10 mg after a week

Route of administration

  • oral
  • Injection (IM)

Side effects

  • nausea,vomiting, constipation
  • Anxiety,dizziness ,headache, lightheadedbess
  • Insomnia
  • Weight gain
  • Binge eating,gambling and abnormal sex behaviour

2.ACTONEL (RISEDRONATE)

Classification and indication for use

It is classified as bisphosphonate

  • Osteoporosis
  • Post menopausal osteoporosis
  • Paget disease

Normal Dosage

  • 5 mg OD or 35 mg once a week or 150mg once a month (post menopausal osteoporosis )
  • 300mg OD ×2 months (Paget disease)

Route of administration

  • oral

Side effects

  • constipation or diarrhoea ,indigestion
  • Pain (headache, myalgia,joint pain,abdominal Pain ,back pain,thigh,hip)
  • Chest pain,fever,throat pain,red or purple rash ,coughing up blood,muscle spasm are severe reactions and medicin to be stoped bad reported to doctor immediately

3.TORADOL (KETOROLAC TROMETHAMINE)

Classification and indication for use

It is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug

  • Pain
  • Dysmenorrhea
  • Idiopathic pericarditis

Normal Dosage

  • once a day for five days(maximum dosage 40mg/day)
  • 20 mg OD from 17 to 64 years
  • After 65 years ,10mg OD

Route of administration

  • oral
  • Injection (IV,IM)
  • Instillation ( Eye drops)
  • Sublingual

Side effects

  • Drowsy
  • Paresthesia
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Edema,abnormal behaviour
  • Purpura,pain at injection site
  • Thrombocytopenea
  • Increased LFT levels
  • Heart attack,GI Bleeding,kidney failure,stroke,anaphylaxis are severe side effects to be immediately seeded for medical help
